Speaking in tongues

I noticed something recently that I found really interesting. My middle daughter had told me this had been going on for some time but I honestly thought she was making it up just to be sarcastic. My son hasn't been feeling well. Like all of my kids for some reason when they don't feel well they end up on my bed. It must be the official family sick bed or something.

Anyway I was doing some work on the computer and he was sleeping in my bed. My son talks in his sleep almost always and it's funny to listen to him talk. This time he started talking and I was barely paying attention when I heard him talking wither Japanese or Chinese or some far east language. I was truly amazed as he was speaking in his sleep. I tapped his feet and woke him up. I asked him do you know your talking in another language in your sleep? He paused with a look like his secret was discovered and said uh huh and went back to sleep like it wasn't a big deal. I know my son and I'll just leave him alone until he feels like talking about it.

My daughter of course started jumping up and down yelling "You see I told you, I told you".
Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm guessing this is a previous life coming through in his dreams.

Hey this is so cool. It could be he is talking in the spiritual or a past life.

I can also speak in tongues. It sounds like middle eastern. I started when I was twelve. I kept it to myself until I was praying in my room one day and I was very upset and pouring my heart and soul out and of course I started to speak in tongues. It kind of scared him. He never heard of that before. My mother also speaks in tongues.

Here is the crazy deal, I was taught only Christians could do this. Not true. Many cultures and religions cantap into this spiritual gift. To be honest I think we all can do. Just as I believe we all are psychic. We just forgot our true selves.

Is it our past lives or is it our soul/higher self coming through? I too am curious to this phenomenon. He will always have this gift. It is a good thing and not to be ashamed of .

You have such wonderful gifted children.

Tell Shelly I said hello! :o)

P.S.
Great subject and talking about it brings me out of my shell more. I am sometimes reluctant to expose too much so people don't think I am a freak. :o(

I was talking to my mother yesterday about this, because I was wondering how I was able to understand German and English programs when I was little. I could fully follow them as if they were in Dutch. To which my mother replied: that's probably because these are all Western European languages; I don't think you would have been able to understand Chinese.
But maybe children, because they are still so perceptive of 'the other world' have no problem with any language, until they get older and loose that ability. A bit like the Babylonian speech confusion (or whatever the technical term is in English)

Like Titania says, I think all languages are within us; I can very easily learn Greek, as if the information is already in my head, and just needs to come out; I can read a word, have no clue how to pronounce it or what it says, bus still I know what it means. The essence of the word comes out so to speak.

Dutch people in general speak a lot of languages, mainly because we are taught a lot in school, and I think that if everyone would take the time to learn a language and not only expect other people to learn, than they would notice that the seeds of each language are already in us somewhere.
Maybe you should try to see if your son can easily learn eastern languages in his waking time too (if he enjoys learning it of course), since he clearly has a feeling with it.

That is very interesting... unfortunately, I don't have any ideas.

Hi Titania, Yea I think it's cool too. I think it kinda freaks my son out and he's been keeping it to himself. I told him not too worry that I think it's cool and that it might be a past life. The other cool part is that he's really been into japanese culture again I think it's a past life but I haven't said anything to him. I think he knows also. I'm glad I could help you open up. You're not a freak no one is. You might act freaky from time to time like we all do but you're not a freak

Hi Nathalie;
You know you're right I think childrena are more open than adults because of their newness to this plane and their preceptions. Becuase of this they can capture new languages and tones.
But with my son I think it's something more and I'll tell you why. My son is an A+ student and he's taking spanish he understands it but when he speaks it he sounds like a american in spain trying to talk spanish for the first time. Bless him because he tries really hard. But when I heard him in his sleep he was speaking very fluently.
I think you have the gift of language and can very easily tap into it. I agree with both you and Titania that we all have it but to varying degree.

Hi Josh;

Thanks for posting but you gotta have some idea. I'm sorry but I have to give you a nudge. You're a very smart and inquisitive mind.

Thank you all for your insight
